June 21, 2009

I wrote on previous posting how I love Bakerzin so much. No, I didn’t work for them, not even I promote them. I just love their foods, their beverages, their cakes, their decorations and even their chairs.

I really loved their :

  • Aglio Olio Spaghetti– Very rich.
  • Oxtail Soup–aahh so delicious
  • Oxtail Fried Rice–is a must try

Nowadays, they had new menus. Additional menus.

And I found my new fave. Egg Spaghetti

Hazelnut Butter Spaghetti with poached egg, smoked beef and parmesan cheese. (Please look at those eggs, still have the runny yolk…ssllrrpp)

And for the desert…never get bored with Hazelnut Maccaroon

Brunch

June 11, 2009

I had this warm chocolate cake for brunch. This is success cake, sometimes i got un-melt version because they late to get-off the cake from the oven. This is nice (from Bistro Delifrance), yet little bit too sweet for me. My best is the one from Bakerzin, ‘cos they use Valrhona Chocolate and home-made Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

Persimmon Fruits

June 10, 2009

DSC04481

I heart these fruits.

Persimmon meant “fruit of the Gods” Generally light yellow-orange to dark red-orange in color, and depending on the species, vary in size from 1.5-9 cm (0.5-4 in) diameter, and may be spherical, acorn-, or pumpkin-shaped. The calyx often remains attached to the fruit after harvesting, but becomes easier to remove as it ripens. They are high in glucose, with a balanced protein profile. (Source from Wikipedia.)

I like the texture of  these fruits. They had hard-tomato-like-orange skin. When you slice it, the inside had beautiful orange flesh too. The flavor is rich, sweet and satisfying. In a perfect sweet. I mean not too sweet. Just sweet. When you taste bitter, then you had unripe Persimmon. The unripes one had greenish orangey color. They are seedless. So you can eat a whole fruit without being disturbed by picking seeds from your mouth. Some people said Persimmon as “Asian Mango”. But I think that’s different kind of fruit. I adore mangos too. I like all of sweet fruits. Sweet oranges, sweet apples, bananas, jackfruits, durians, mostly tropical fruits.

Even they came from America, and Japan, Indonesian had its own Persimmon. We called it Kesemek . Little bit different from import one. Kesemek sometimes grouped as ugly fruit (hhmmm contrary with “fruit of the Gods” quote). They came in green color and had some powder on it. I’m not sure what the powder is. You can see the picture below. But the taste is still good. Just don’t forget to wash it first :).

Persimmons can be made as dry food, salad, pudding, or baking it as a cake or even blended as a smoothie, because they seem like little pumpkin. But I stick to raw fruit. This is seasonal fruit, after almost a year, i just found them yesterday. Lucky me, my kids didn’t like them, so I can enjoy my persimmons for myself 🙂

Vicky Cristina Barcelona the movie

June 4, 2009

I loooooveeeee this movie. I love the scenery, the spanish accent, the music…..

images www.iwatchstuff.com

The story is about two girls (Vicky and Cristina) who spent their summer holiday in Barcelona. They got involved with an artist-painter, who then ask them to join him, spend the weekend at Oviedo. The painter, who still in love with his ex-wife, whose brutally beautiful, was slept with Vicky (Rebecca Hall), the upcoming bride and he also got relationship with Cristina (Scarlett Johansson). Then Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz-she won Academy Award in this movie) came back in his life. Simply movie by Woody Allen.

Am not big fan of Penelope Cruz, but here, her accent was incredible and cute as well. She’s very good in this role. So sexy and wild. Javier Bardem  as Juan Antonio seem too old as the painter.
